Registration

How to register for the IELTS test in Uzbekistan and pay for it.

How to register

Registering for the IELTS exam is a fully online process: you choose the right test version, fill in your personal details exactly as they appear in your passport, and pay the registration fee. The test is administered by two official partners, IDP IELTS and the British Council. Both deliver the same test, with identical scoring and recognition worldwide.

What to prepare

  • Valid passport: a current international passport that will be valid on your test day.
  • Passport scan: a clear, colour scan or photo of your passport's main information page.
  • Payment method: a way to pay the fee, such as a local payment app, a bank or a card. See How to pay below.

Step by step

  1. Choose your test type and format

Go to IELTS.org to find a test center, or go straight to the booking portals of IDP IELTS or the British Council.

    Test type

    • IELTS Academic: for higher education (universities) or professional registration abroad.
    • IELTS General Training: for migration (for example Canada, Australia, UK), secondary education or work experience.
    • IELTS UKVI: a secure version required only for certain UK visa and immigration applications.

    Test format

    • IELTS on Computer: taken at an official test center on a computer. Results arrive within 3–5 days.
    • IELTS Online: taken from home with remote proctoring, for Academic only. Check that your university accepts it.

Note: the traditional paper-based format has been phased out globally as of mid-2026.

  2. Select your location and date

Choose your country and city from the menu, then browse the calendar for available test dates.

TipBook your seat 4 to 6 weeks in advance, because weekend slots fill up quickly.
  3. Create an account and fill out the application

    • Sign up with a valid email address to create your candidate profile.
    • Enter your full name, date of birth and passport number.
    • Upload the clear scan of your passport page when asked.
ImportantSpell your name exactly as it is written in your passport. Any mismatch can stop you from taking the test.
  4. Pay the test fee

The fee depends on the test and the provider (see the Fees page). Pay with one of the methods in How to pay below. With the British Council, a payment that is not completed online straight away must be made within 3 working days of registering.

  5. Receive confirmation

After a successful payment you will receive a booking confirmation email. Log in to your candidate portal to check your schedule. Listening, Reading and Writing happen back to back. The Speaking test may be on the same day, or up to 7 days before or after the written sections.

How to pay

How you pay depends on where you registered. After registering you receive an email with your booking summary and a 15-digit reference number that starts with UZ. Keep it, because you will need it when you pay.

Payment options by provider

British Council Uzbekistan

You have 3 working days after your online registration to pay the fee.

  • Mobile apps (instant): pay through Payme, Click, Xazna or Uzum. Search for "British Council" in the payment services and enter your reference number.
  • Bank, cash or UZS debit card: pay at the Yunusabad branch of KDB Bank Uzbekistan in Tashkent (Minor 77), open 09:30–16:00 with a lunch break 14:00–15:00. Take your original passport. Avoid paying on the last or first working day of the month, because the bank may not be able to accept payments then.
  • Bank transfer: from any bank in Uzbekistan. Copy the current bank details from the official British Council booking page.
  • International cards: Visa or Mastercard issued by a foreign bank. You pay online in pounds sterling when you register.
TipOn a bank receipt write "IELTS / surname / city / date of the test", and quote your reference number in every reference field.

IDP IELTS Uzbekistan (Edu Action)

Pay immediately or soon after you register.

  • Mobile apps (instant): search for "IDP IELTS" or "Edu Action" in the Uzum (Apelsin) app.
  • Online card payment: on the checkout page you can use local Uzcard and Humo cards, or international Visa and Mastercard.
  • Bank transfer: from any local bank app or branch. Copy the current bank details from the official IDP payment page. In the payment description write your full applicant name and your exam date. Transfers can take up to 3 days to clear.
ImportantAlways copy bank details from the official page, never from a message or an unofficial website.

Step by step

Option A: local apps (Click, Payme, Uzum)

  1. Finish your online registration until you reach the confirmation page that shows your reference number (15 digits, starting with UZ).

  2. Open your app: Click, Payme or Uzum.

  3. Go to "Payment" or "Services" and type "British Council" or "IDP" in the search bar.

  4. Enter your reference number and your full name.

  5. Check that the amount matches the fee exactly, then tap Pay. Save a screenshot or PDF of the receipt.

Option B: international Visa or Mastercard

  1. Choose "Pay Online" at the end of the booking process.

  2. Make sure your card allows online international payments in its settings. The British Council accepts only cards issued by foreign banks, and charges in pounds sterling.

  3. Enter your card details and submit.

  4. Complete the 3D-Secure check by entering the SMS code sent to your phone.

Documents

Documents needed for registration

  • Your ID details: your full legal name, document number, expiration date and date of birth, exactly as printed on the identity page.
  • A scan of your ID: a clear, high-resolution colour scan or photo of the main information page, to upload to your online candidate profile during booking.
TipIf you plan to apply to universities abroad, register with your international passport. This avoids spelling differences between your ID card and your passport.

Documents needed on test day

  • The original ID: bring the same physical, valid document that you used to register. For most students this is the international passport.
  • Not accepted: photocopies, digital copies on a phone, and other documents such as a driver's licence or a birth certificate.

The British Council also allows registration with an Uzbek national ID card. If you register that way, bring that same card on test day.

Critical rules to remember

  • Exact match: the name and number on your document on test day must match your booking confirmation character for character, including apostrophes.
  • Validity: your document must be valid when you book and on the day of the test. It must not be expired, heavily damaged or missing pages.
  • Under 18: the British Council also asks for a parent consent form, and IELTS is not recommended for anyone under 16.
